  • UPON INSPECTION WE FOUND WE COULD SHIFT ALL GEARS WITH ENGINE OFF AND CLUTCH PEDAL ENGAGED. WHEN ENGINE IS RUNNING WE COULD NOT CHANGE GEARS. WE REMOVED THE SHIFT TOWER COVER TO INSPECT BUSHINGS, LOOKED GOOD. WE NOTICED THE CLUTCH ENGAGES VERY HIGH AND SOMETIMES WILL NOT DISENGAGE. EVEN WITH THE CLUTCH PUSHED ALL THE WAY IN THE VEHICLE WANTED TO MOVE FORWARD. WE ALSO NOTICED THE CLUTCH FLUID IS VERY DIRTY. THE PROBLEM IS IN THE CLUTCH AND HYDRAULICS. THE CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDER AND THE SLAVE CYLINDER ARE VERY WORN AND THE CLUTCH DISC IS EXTREMELY WORN. THE SHIFTER WILL GET CAUGHT BETWEEN GEARS WHEN THE HYDRAULICS CANNOT DELIVER ENOUGH PRESSURE AND THE CLUTCH DISC BEING SO WORN OUT. RECOMMEND REPLACE THE CLUTCH ASSY AND THE CLUTCH MASTER AND SLAVE CYLINDERS. AFTER REPLACING THE CLUTCH ASSY AND THE MASTER AND SLAVE CYLINDERS WE CHECKED THE MANUAL TRANSMISSION FLUID, FOUND IT ALMOST EMPTY. WE ADDED 2.5 QUARTS OF FLUID AND IT ONLY HOLDS 2.8 QUARTS. WE DO NOT SEE ANY EXTERNAL LEAKS AND NOT SURE WHY IT WAS SO LOW. THE FLUID IS STILL DIRTY AND WE RECOMMEND CHANGING THE FLUID SOONER THAN LATER. WE TEST DROVE VEHICLE AND FOUND THE GEARS TO SHIFT NORMALLY BUT WE DID NOTICE THAT THERE IS A SLIGHT GROWL SOUND IN 5TH GEAR. THIS COULD BE DUE TO A SYNCHRO PROBLEM OR LACK OF FLUID. HAVE CUSTOMER DRIVE FOR A WHILE AND REPORT BACK.
