- WE SCANNED FOR CODES, P0302 – MISFIRE CYL #2. WE INSPECTED THE SPARK PLUGS AND COILS. FOUND THE PLUGS WERE JUST REPLACED (WRONG BRAND PLUGS). USING THE SCAN TOOL WE WATCHED THE OPERATION OF THE IGNITION COILS. FOUND COIL #2 FAILING AND NOT DELIVERING SPARK. WE CHANGED COILS #2 AND #4 AND RETESTED. NOW WE FOUND #4 COIL NOT WORKING. WE FOUND A SECOND CODE STORED: P0420- CAT CONVERTER EFFICIENCY BELOW THRESHOLD. THIS IS MOST LIKELY THE ONE OF THE OXYGEN SENSORS BUT IT NEEDS TO BE DIAGNOSED. THIS WILL NOT CAUSE THE ENGINE MISFIRE. RECOMMEND REPLACE THIS IGNITION COIL AND RECHECK SYSTEM. AFTER WE REPLACED THE COIL WE CLEARED THE CODES AND FOUND THE ENGINE TO RUN NORMALLY WITHOUT MISFIRE. CODE FOR MISFIRE HAS NOT RETURNED. WE EXPECT THE CODE FOR THE O2 SENSOR TO RETURN.
